2013…

Little Breakfast in Delft Set

Little Breakfast in Delft Set

I feel blog guilt. It’s been quite a while, but everything has been mad busy here, which is definitely a good thing! I taught a lovely lady some lampwork skills yesterday, have a couple of new galleries lined up for 2013 already, and my etsy shop is ticking along well. On top of all this, I’m working slowly but surely on some new ranges of jewellery and beads, and hope to share the inspiration and making process with you all.

In the meantime, I have been working on some little, more affordable for January versions of some of my more popular beads, ranging from £12 to £14 for a set. I’ll leave you with some of them for now (links are clickable) and be back with some of my new work and ideas quicksmart!

Little Doors

Beware, this is a very image-heavy post…

There’s a little fun project I have been working on for a few weeks now, a study of lovely colourful painted, rusting, graffitied and peeling doors around the world. It even inspired me to paint the studio door this week, which is looking good! Anyway, I found and old drawing of an orange door I did in Barcelona, and I had a wee search on Pinterest to find some more. I found some gorgeous images including these…

They’re really pretty aren’t they? So they led to a sketch or two…

And after a bit of playing around, ten totally unique pairs of earrings were created! They are all made with hot glass on surgical steel backs, so they are totally hypoallergenic. The steel is attached in the flame so it is completely fused to the glass, and no glue has been used (I don’t trust glue). Its image heavy, and all of the pictures link to their listing in my online shop. At £15 each, they are a snip for a totally original piece of jewellery. I hope you like them!

I hope you like them, and have a lovely weekend!

New Beads, and Exciting News

I have been working my little socks off the past few weeks, and will be for the next two months, because two months today I will be running a stall for two weeks selling my jewellery in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! How exciting (and scary!!), I have so much to do! Its only for a week (I couldn’t manage any longer), and its the first time I will be selling my jewellery to the public face to face… I have a few tricks up my sleeve to be revealed closer to the time, but I’m pretty nervous, and working in the studio all the hours I can. The stall will be on the Royal Mile, the Festival’s Hub of activity, right next to St. Giles Cathedral. Wish me luck!! I will keep you posted with my making process, once I get through a mountain of paperwork!

In other news, I have managed to make some new beads for my online shop! They are pictured here, and you can click the pictures to be linked to their listing.

Have a good one!

A new shape, and a commission for Russia…

I am finally getting out of the disk rut I have been stuck in for a while, by practicing my stringer work on some curved surfaced beads. I’m enjoying building up the layers of colour on them, but they are pretty big, so take a while to do. In other news, I have some silver cored rings in the kiln, haven’t done any of them for ages! I’ll let you know how they turn out!

Also in the kiln is a massive 5mm holed bead collection for a lovely lady in Moscow. It was a pretty big order (60 beads!!) so it will take a few days to complete. Hopefully I can get a nice photo of them before they head to Russia!

I will leave you with some more images of decorated lentils…
You will be linked to my etsy shop if you click on the pictures.

Oh, and I’m going to the DJCAD Degree show today! I can’t believe its been a year since it was our show!! I will be back to report later!

Have a good one,

Where I Fell for Glass…

I have been on Pinterest again, this time digging up pictures which remind me of a 2009 trip to Venice, and more importantly the island of Murano.
Maybe you can see why I became addicted to all things glassy.
